Obituary of Joseph D. Burch Jr.

Joseph D. Burch Jr., 64, a lifelong resident of Greenwich passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 24, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born in Cambridge, NY, August 13, 1954 to the late Joseph and Genevieve Roberts Burch.

Joe was a hard worker who always had a job, he worked for various people and organizations throughout the years including Irwin Farms, Steve Skelly Farm, Curtis’s Farm, Village of Salem and Greenwich, Town of Jackson, and mills in Schuylerville and Battenville.  He also mowed many lawns and maintained them. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing and special family days, he was a loving father and husband.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his father-in-law Rev. Clinton H. Carter; sister Genève Hughes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Susan E. Carter Burch; children Matthew and Andrew Burch; sister Eva Knapp and her husband Floyd; brothers Alfred, Clarence and James Burch; mother-in-law Helen H. Carter; sisters-in-law Cynthia (Mark) Millington, and Rebecca (Ben) Carter Reynolds; brother-in-law Duane (Sukcah) Carter and John (Darlene) Carter; many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 11am Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St, Greenwich, NY, 12834 with the Rev. Jeffrey Stratton officiating.

Family and friends are invited to the Cambridge American Legion for a reception immediately following the service at the funeral home.
