Obituary of Peter James Keefe
Born July 3, 1936 in Mineola, NY, he was the son of the late James and Frances Keefe.
Peter earned his bachelor of science degree at Northeastern University and his master of science degree at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, both in electrical engineering. He spent most of his career working at Northrop Grumman. One of his most notable accomplishments was the design and construction of the oscillator that was the key component for driving the computers on each of the NASA Space Shuttles.
Peter always enjoyed spending time near the ocean. In his teen years, he helped his father build a cottage in Hampton Bays, NY. He further pursued his passion for woodworking later in life, building outdoor swinging benches for his children, Adirondack chairs for his grandchildren, and other treasured pieces. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and sharing their accomplishments with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Judith Keefe of Schuylerville; his children, Lisa Keefe (Stephan Ginell) of Naperville, IL, Peter M. Keefe (Sarah Guzi) of Sutton, MA, and Sharon Feeley (Edward Feeley) of Saratoga Springs; 8 grandchildren, Garrett, Keara, and Keanan Ginell, George and Harry Keefe, Maddison, Cameron, and Adelle Feeley; a brother, James Keefe; a sister, Janet Sheridan; and several nieces and nephews.
Peter was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Dennis Keefe.
Calling hours are on Saturday, October 6 from 10-11:45am at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Avenue, Schuylerville, NY.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, October 6 at Notre Dame-Visitation Church, 18 Pearl Street, Schuylerville, NY. Rev. Martin Fisher will be officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
