Obituary of Gordon W. Russell Jr.

Gordon W. Russell Jr., 82, a resident of Malta, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Home of the Good Shephard in Saratoga Springs surrounded by his loving family.

Born June 30, 1936 in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Gordon W. and Winifred Thomas Russell Sr. 

He was raised on the Russell family farm and attended the one-room schoolhouse in Quaker Springs.  He was a graduate of Schuylerville Central School and SUNY Morrisville with a degree in Automotive Technology.  He was also a graduate of the GE Apprentice Machinist Course and went on to work at GE in Schenectady for many years until his retirement.

His hobbies included genealogy, antique bottle collecting, and he was an antique cars enthusiast.

In addition to his parents, Gordon joins his brother Norman Russell and his beloved granddaughter, Meghan Russell, who await him with open arms.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Joan Bellavita Russell; his children, Donna Russell, Gordon (Linda) Russell III, James (Kimberly) Russell, and Brian (Lisa) Russell; grandchildren Tyler, Brandon, Devin and Julia. sister, Nancy Hieber; in-laws, Thomas Bellavita, Judyanne Dobnikar, Carol Demma, Arlene Looss; as well as a large loving extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 10am Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville, NY 12871.  Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Quaker Springs.  A reception will follow at the Northway Estates Community Center, 2560 Route 9, Malta, NY 12020.

Friends may call on Friday from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
