Obituary of Carol Hand
Carol Knight Hand, 85, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2019 in her home. She is survived by her children Julie, Bill, and John; her grandchildren Anna, Ryan, Zachary, and Ben; her step-daughters Jocelyn, Nancy, and Wendy; her step-grandchildren James and Maggie; and her beloved dog and cat, Jack and Mike.
Carol was born January 31, 1933 to Jack C. Knight and Doris Liffiton in Albany, New York. She attended Smith College and Albany State, graduating with a teaching degree. She was first married to William D. White, currently of Tiverton, RI and later to Aaron Allen (A.A.) Hand, of Greenwich, New York, who pre-deceased her in 1988.
Carol helped run the Hand Melon Farm with her husband A.A. and later, continued to support her son John. Carol loved to garden, sew, golf, cook, entertain, and play the piano. Carol was a good athlete and had a beautiful signing voice. She loved dogs and had many including Holly 1, Holly 2, Jason, Joshua, Harry, Alex, Peter, Mushy, Blossom, Bonzo, Fletcher, Nikki, Malcom, Maggie Jane, and Molly, just to name a few.
Carol was known for being honest, fair, and always direct. She worked hard to be a good mom, wife, and partner in the Farm. Those that new her well appreciated how honest and direct she always was. ;-)
