Obituary of Robert B. McKernon

Robert B. McKernon, 80, a lifelong resident of Greenwich went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Monday, February 11, 2019 at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 29, 1938 in Greenwich to the late Russell and Etta Whelden McKernon

Robert was a lifelong dairy farmer who planted his roots in his beloved Greenwich, NY.  He married the love of his life Emolyn Davies McKernon on August 15, 1959.  Together they raised 5 sons and worked Quint R Farm. 

He was a hardworking man and when he could get away from the farm, he cherished car rides with his wife to Vermont, trips to Savannah Georgia and South Carolina.  Robert was the superintendent for the Jr. dairy barn at the county fair for many years, during the summer months he enjoyed travelling to different county fairs and showing cows at the Washington County and Schaghicoke Fair.  Later in life he enjoyed watching future family generations continue showing, as well as watching his granddaughter Destiney play softball.

He will be remembered as a man who loved his family and always made others smile, he was strong willed and tough but always had a gentle twinkle in his eye.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Charles Sr. and sister Shirley Coon.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Emolyn (Davies) McKernon; sons Robert R. McKernon, Richard McKernon, Ronald McKernon, Randall, (Audrey) McKernon and Ryan (Lori) McKernon; grandchildren, Ashley (James) Jenks, Paige and Destiney McKernon, Chelsi (Gabe) Facin, Sabrina McKernon, Joshua (Stephanie) McKernon, Kiana, Kendall, Liam, Dilyn and Sean McKernon; great grandchildren, Isaac and Isabella Jenks, Serena, Braylon, Wyatt, Jayden, Mckenzie, Noah and Skyler McKernon; 2 sisters Beverly Moy and Muriel (Stewart) Mowrey; sister-in-law Patricia Mckernon; close cousin Joanne (Harry) Booth; several other cousins, nephews and nieces.

A memorial service for family and friends will be at 2pm Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Whiteside Church, Center Cambridge Rd, Cambridge, NY, 12816 with Pastor Andrew Strickland officiating.

The family requests people to wear casual clothing to the service.

Family and friends may call from 1-2pm prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers donations in Robert’s name may be made to the Jr. Beef Awards at the Washington County Fair.
