Obituary of Robert P. McKenna

Robert P. McKenna, 69, of Victory Mills, NY, died peacefully Friday, March 26, 2010 at his home after complications from asbestos poisoning. Born February 13, 1941 in Jersey City, NJ he was the son of the late Charles and Helen Wagner McKenna. He attended John Adams High School in Ozone Park, NY. He was a member of Local 105 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union in Schenectady, NY. Over his 30 years experience, he was highly recognized for many major accomplishments including supervision of Gilboa Dam, Sleepy Hollow Sewer & Water Treatment Plant, supervision of the repair of Coxsackie Main Water Tower, and for his work with General Dynamics. Bob also owned B & B Mechanical Piping and B & E Plumbing and Heating. Bob’s favorite pastime included his avid love for hunting, fishing, and let’s not forget gambling. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of many things, his favorite being reloading and anything to do with gun collecting. He was an avid member of NRA and was a member of the Fish Creek Rod & Gun Club in Victory, NY. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. His love for his children and grandchildren was completely unconditional. He had resided with his daughter Deborah and her family for the past 7 years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Richard McKenna. Survivors include his 2 sons, Lance M. McKenna (Faith) of Coxsackie and Shawn McKenna of Saratoga Springs; 2 daughters, Deborah McKenna (James Brenz) of Victory Mills and Sandra Thompson (Drew) of Broadalbin; 1 brother, Frank McKenna of Jamaica, Queens; 3 grandchildren, Courtney McKenna, Kayla Brenz (Peanut), and Garrett McKenna; 1 great grandson, Nicholas Little; and his adopted grandson, Evan Gontz. A funeral service will be held at 6pm Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville with Rev. Bonnie Bates, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-6pm prior to the service on Tuesday. Memorials can be made in his memory to NRA, or the General Schuyler Emergency Squad. The family would like to express special thanks to Uncle Sonny (Possum) for his lifelong friendship, Garherd Wagner (g-spot), Marc Cronhiner and Bill Mahney for their daily visits and strong loving friendships. Bob will be extremely missed by all his friends and family, for being the kindest, most compassionate, giving man. Last but not least, his last words to all – “tootles”
