Obituary of Shirley Rodford

Shirley Rodford, 95, a resident of General Fellows Rd, in Greenwich went to be with her lord and savior Jesus Christ, Monday, March 16, 2020 in the comfort of her home surrounded by those who loved and cared for her. She was born July 20, 1924 in Albany, NY to the late William Rodford and Frida Swint whom she loved dearly and lived with for many years. After her mother’s passing Shirley resided at the Rome State School and the Wassiac Developmental Center. She moved to her current home at the Easton IRA in Greenwich in June of 2006. She loved and adored her housemates and staff. Shirley was a strong and determined lady and she loved music especially Elvis. Looking through magazines with pictures of food, animals or babies gave her great joy. She loved shopping for new clothes and jewelry, getting her nails done and dressing pristinely. She was a mentor in the IRA home and helped around the house whenever she could. During the week she enjoyed attending the day program at the Washington Center. At the program she liked participating in arts and crafts, social groups and going out for ice cream, chocolate was her favorite flavor. She loved her friends and staff at her day program, and she will be truly missed by all who met her. Shirley had a love for McDonalds cheeseburgers. From her arrival she always had a sweet tooth and loved 3 musketeers candy bars she would know that silver wrapper anywhere.... BUT AS SHE SAID THEY WERE 3 MUCKATEERS that saying will stay with us forever. Shirley is survived by her sister, Marilyn Berry and Marilyn’s daughter-in-law Kathy Berry as well as numerous care givers and friends, she has made throughout the years. Graveside services for Shirley will be held at 12 pm Friday, March 20, 2020 in the Kinderhook Reformed Church Cemetery, Co Rd 21 & Kindertree Dr, Kinderhook, NY 12184 with Celebrant Jason M.
