Obituary of Deborah L. Smith

Deborah Lynn Smith July 1, 1976 - August 29, 2020 Fort Edward - Deborah Smith, passed away after a 10 year battle with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease. All who knew Debbie knew that she was stubborn, which gave her the strength and courage to battle this terrible condition. Debbie was born in Saratoga Springs; she was the daughter of Cynthia (Thomas) Freiberger and Edward Freiberger. Debbie was married to Darrin Smith (former spouse) of Ballston Spa and they had two children together. Debbie will be remembered for loving ice cream, animals of any kind, but most of all her two children. She leaves behind her two children Faith and Dalton, as well as her mother Cynthia Freiberger (Alfred Hartwell) of Wilton, her father Edward Freiberger of Tennessee, her grandmother Gloria Thomas, and her sister Elizabeth O’Connell (Maurice), as well as aunts, uncles and many cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at Fort Hudson Nursing Home and Hospice for their tireless care of Debbie and for being her second family during the pandemic. They would also like to thank Heather Gaba (Darrin Smith) for her mothering touch which has provided Faith and Dalton with love and support during this difficult time. A private service will be held at the discretion of the family. Donations can be made in her memory to a charity of one's choice.
