Obituary of James C. Carr

James (Jay) Calvin Carr, 32, a resident of Gansevoort, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 following a long illness. Born October 16, 1988 in Glens Falls, NY he was the son of James and Karen Updike Carr of Gansevoort. He was a lifelong resident of Gansevoort. He loved the outdoors, swimming, snowmobiling and playing football. He always looked forward to the Superbowl. He was a graduate of Schuylerville Central School where he also enjoyed playing football. He previously had worked at McDonalds, Burger King, Walmart and Gassho Body and Mind. He was a former member of Schuylerville Fire Department. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Earl (Jimmy) and Beatrice Carr and paternal grandparents, Harold and Florence Updike. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Brooke Flanagan; his sister, Danyel (Tommy) Jones; his nephews and niece, Shawn, Jensen, Jasper and Lennox; several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Family and friends are invited to gather at his parent’s home throughout the day and early evening on Monday, February 8, 2021 for a celebration of his life. A graveside service will be held for his immediate family and close friends in the spring. Memorials may be made in his memory to the Schuyler Hose Company, 35 Spring Street, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
