What a tribute to a wonderful man was the church service which I attended by cell phone last Friday. Being in Florida, I was not able to pay my respects in person. I got to know Edgar when he was Northumberland Town Supervisor and I was Malta Town Supervisor. I would always tell him that we were related because my Tax Collector (Sylvia Sievers) and the wife of my Highway Supt. (Marie Balet) are Carolyn's sisters. He would always laugh that wonderful laugh and, for that moment, I felt part of the King family. I heard him speak at a Board of Supervisors meeting about the power of prayer after his prostate cancer surgery. I always had the utmost respect for Edgar and his unquestionable integrity. He was an eloquent spokesman for his community and obviously beloved by his friends and neighbors who elected him six times as their representative. To his wonderful family, I extend my sincere condolences. As a father, husband, and friend, Edgar set an example for us all to emulate. It was my honor and privilege to know him.

So sorry for your loss. Carolyn, I’m sure you, your boys – David, Larry, Jan, Jeff and their families will find comfort in the many fond memories with your husband. You and Ed have a beautiful family that has contributed so much to the community and he will be missed. Mary and I have great memories of working with Ed at the NYS Department of Ag & Mkts. Mary remembers a time when Ed invited her whole Division of Animal Industry to your farm for a visit. It was especially educational and memorable for her and others who were not as familiar to life on the farm. It meant a lot to Mary and her associates. “A passing leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves memories no one can steal”. You and the family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Love, Peter & Mary Pamkowski

So sad to hear of Edgar's passing. He was always filled with positivity and encouraging words. He was a kind man who was proud of everything his family and the local agricultural community had accomplished. He will be greatly missed by all, not just by those in the agricultural community.

I have so many found memories of Mr King. Seeing him at his children sports games, then later at his grandchildren games. He always walk in with a smile on his face greeting you and of course a story for you. Later in life how I enjoyed going to kings ice cream store and seeing him there for more stories and always talking about his family and how proud he was of them. If I went to the store and he wasn’t there I felt like I missed out on something. He also was a great friend of my dad since they were both superiors at the same time. Although I don’t know what they accomplish since my dad love to tell stories too. Every time I go get ice cream I will smile with great memories of him and his stories.

I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember the first time I met Edgar, we had recently moved to Schuylerville and I was talking to someone about how I loved living near the farms because I loved milk. He came over to me and introduced himself, kissed the back of my hand and thanked me for loving milk. He was a wonderfully sweet man who had a great personality and an amazing family. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

Dear Carolyn,
I'm so sorry for your loss of Edgar. I Knew he was such a gentleman when I first met him at the Wilton Y. He was indeed a very special person and he and I bonded so quickly in our thoughts. I simply admired his thought process. There was no doubt he was a man of God and how he loved his family. He always spoke so highly of his dairy family he made state wide. I wish to offer you and your entire family my deepest sympathy. I will miss him very much and the little talks we once shared. "Bless You All..."
Your Y Friend,
Alex Georgeadis

My Uncle, my mother's one and only Big Brother, has been a Great Inspiration to so many...
But for me, I see the beautiful family he has created and kept close, cared for and encouraged! Cheered for at every game! Celebrated at every milestone! Advised at every crossroad.
I see four amazing strong men, who with the sincere guidance of loving parents and sometimes, the stern words of their father, now pass that same love and inspiration on to their own beautiful families! While his body may have left us, his driving inspirational spirit is within everyone one of his children and grandchildren! Yes, he was an Inspiration to Us All, but for His Family has and always will be A Blessing! Love you Uncle Ed! You will be missed but through those you loved the most your spirit will live with us!

We have lost a man of integrity and kindness. Edgar was the first person my husband Jim and I met when we moved to the Bacon Hill area in the spring of 1973. The movers were unloading the van when Edgar knocked on the door to welcome us to the neighborhood. Edgar and his exceptional wife Carolyn became our lifelong friends. We shared many good times together over the decades, including neighborhood dinners and our children's weddings. Edgar was a man of generosity who delighted in sharing whatever he had. That included the delicious sweet corn that the King farm cultivated annually in a patch just north of our home on Homestead Road. We were invited to help ourselves. It was my privilege to serve under Edgar on the Town Planning Board during his tenure as Town Supervisor. He had a clear vision for the town that focused on protecting its agricultural heritage and making it a family-friendly community that welcomed everyone. He leaves an unmatched legacy of love for his family and his community.

Dear Mrs. King and family,
I want to tell you how sorry it is to hear of Mr. Kings passing. He was an outstanding man in the community and with you raised a beautiful family. I know that my parents would say hello and give a smile to the both you if they saw you out. My father saw him often at Rosie's Diner many years ago at their lunch hang out. My mom said she last saw him at Denny's. I introduced myself to him right after Adam and my son were born in the hospital hallway. I hope your fond memories of him be told through the several generations of children he is a grandparent of. Thank you and God Bless. Sincerely, Ron Hayes
