Obituary of Susan Lee McClay

Susan Lee McClay, 54, a resident of Lake Luzerne went to be with her lord and savior Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Cambridge, NY, on August 3, 1966, to Ralph and Grace (Hulbert) McClay. Psalm 18 says “The lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer”. God was Susan’s rock her entire life, her faith was strong, no matter what she was going through. Susan enjoyed attending church on Sunday’s and singing in the choir. She lived her life faithfully, always finding the good in people. She was loving, giving, kind, and devoted to her family. Her children, grandchildren, life partner and family meant everything to her. Susan graduated from Greenwich High School and went on to excel as a sales manager for the American Management Association. She enjoyed long walks with her companion Glenn and dog Pookie. Her flower gardens were immaculate, and whenever she was asked what flowers, she was growing, she would reply, “The pretty ones”. Her family camp on summit lake and the beaches of Maine were her happy place. She was famous for her “McClay goodbye”, being the first to say goodbye and the last to leave, hugging you four times on the way out. Susan made awesome sweet potatoes, and delicious lasagna and oyster casserole. At 12:30PM you would find her in front of the TV watching the Young and restless, and if folding laundry you can be assured a Lifetime movie was always on. She was predeceased by her father Ralph McClay. Survivors include her loving children Heather (Andrew) Cox of North Carolina, Matthew (Tiffany) Zwinge of Vermont; Mother Grace McClay-Jackson; siblings, James (Judith) McClay of Greenwich, Marjorie (Frank) Rodriguez of Saratoga, Mary (Stephen) Safstrom of Ballston Lake, and Jeanne (Gary) Gentry of Ohio; grandchildren, Emily, Mackenzy, Lilliana, Madelyn and Matthew Zwinge, Shawn, Ava, and Dominik Fret; life partner Glenn Taylor of Lake Luzerne; dog Pookie as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
