Kart was an amazing player, generous soul, and willing to try new things. One of my first groups with the guild I remember he bowed out of the main group so everyone possible could get their Easter achievements done, and hung out with me for a while in Scarlet cemetery before doing yet another Cathedral run to get everyone in who wanted to. Just one of his many times he patiently served without gaining anything for himself. He truly enjoyed the mechanics of boss fights and events and stretched the boundaries whenever possible. The STV run recorded above is a favorite memory also. Kart, after 3 months in Heaven you have probably mapped every corner already. This is not goodbye. See you soon!

This message came from Paridoxx, our long standing guild leader and fellow Brother in Christ, as soon as he heard the news he posted this in response.

My heart is saddened today... Kart was a good friend that always encouraged me privately and publicly to rise above the fray and to the light everyone was looking for. I have many a fond memory of playing WoW with Kart, and will see if I can come up with some specifics.
Kart was to me, my inner conscious for the guild from the perspective of my faith. He always encouraged me to stop and look at it from a different perspective. Through different eyes and by doing so gain deeper insight into the struggles others were facing. He loved life, he loved WoW and he most certainly loved all of us.
Rest well my brother! We will ride the skies again one day!

We just found out about this. I posted this message to our guild. Kartalu (Jacob) was an officer in our guild <More Than Conquerors> for some time. We extend our condolences to the family in this great time of sorrow. I pray that the Lord who holds your dear ones in His arms will comfort you in this time of loss. God bless you.

Sparkling — Today at 2:59 PM
My fellow guildmates, please do not take each day for granted, for we do not know how many days we have numbered on this Earth. And if at all possible, try not to take our friendships for granted either, as we do not walk this life alone, but never know if we will have another day with the ones we hold dear. Some of you may have joined the guild more recently and do not remember Kartalu, but those of us who had the opportunity to play with him remember him as a gentle leader. He rose to the rank of first officer in our guild through his strength of character, his good humor, and his constant willingness to help others. He genuinely enjoyed being the tank, and would on rare occasions talk about how he felt as if he was representing Jesus who took a beating for us on the Cross, and hoped that others would see the light of Christ in him, not because he talked about it often (he didn't) but because of how he lived his life.
Today I have learned through my son [Blazear] that our days of playing with Kartalu this side of heaven are over. On November 2nd he passed away in a hospital due to complications from Covid, preceeded by his father just six days earlier on October 27th. The obituary for him can be found here if you would like to read the official announcement. https://flynnbrosinc.com/tribute/details/3727/Jacob-Martin/obituary.html
One of our fond memories of Kartalu was when he tanked a dungeon with a fishing pole, just for the fun of it. (We finished the dungeon too!) If others have fond memories of him that you would like to share of your adventures with Kartalu in Azeroth, or beyond, please share those here. If possible, I will try to pass them on to his family (if I can figure out how to contact them) to comfort their hearts in this time of sorrow. When the guild moved to Blizzard Classic for a short time, Kartalu came with us us. When the guild disbanded from Classic, he asked to stay on and reform under a new guild name which presumably he led for some time. It was at that point that we fell out of touch with him as he was leading his new guild there and we had moved to play on Light's Vengeance. When we first created the guild on Tauri WoW he made a character on the server and played with us for a little while, but the guild was still playing on Symmetry at that time and he spent most of his WoW time there. When the guild moved to TauriWoW last year, he didn't come with us. He was having fun playing Monster Hunter and some other games at that time. It seems now that we will not be seeing him ingame again in this lifetime. We know he was a Believer and look forward to seeing him one day in heaven when our time has come, but for now our hearts are sad, and our thoughts are tangled in sorrow as we remember our friend, Kartalu. In the words of my son who played with him the most:
Blazear — Today at 1:55 PM
Kartalu is permanently offline.
Please comfort one another. Be sensitive to one another's emotions as we process this as a guild. Remember the happy times, and forgive one another as Christ has forgiven you. These games that we play together are more than just games, they are our connection to other human beings, to one another, to our friends, our family. Be kind to one another and respectful to others in all that you do, not just because you are representing our guild, but because every player you meet is a life that you touch. Make your touch count. Be excellent to one another, always.
Kartalu was quite young, about the same age as my sons, and his life certainly ended too soon. In this is our sadness that the world has lost another blessing. Our hope and joy is in knowing that we have the opportunity to see him again in eternity. He lived well and left a trail of the light of Christ in his wake. I hope the same can be said for us all.
