Obituary of Matthew J. McGloine

Matthew J. McGloine, 86, a former resident of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully December 21, 2021 at the Home of the Good Shephard in Wilton, NY. Born January 10, 1935 in Queens, NY he was the son of the late Matthew and Margherita McNamara McGloine. He married Jessica Vivian on June 2, 1960 in Queens, NY. Matthew started working for General Motors in NYC after graduation from High School in 1952. After service in the US Army, Matthew returned to General Motors later moving from NYC to Indianapolis in 1976. He ultimately retired from GM’s Allison Transmission division as an International Sales Manager. Matthew and his wife Jessica were active parishioner of Saint Monica Catholic Church in Indianapolis and they enjoyed traveling with friends and relatives. He also loved listening to Irish music. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Jessica (Vivian) McGloine, his brother Edward and wife Bridget (Kiernan) McGloine, brother John and wife Jane (Goebelbecker) McGloine, and sister Mary (McGloine) Roy and husband Louis Roy, as well as nephews John McGloine, Edward McGloine, Daniel Roy and Matthew Roy, and nieces Eileen McGloine and Jane (Roy) Dow. Survivors include Kevin and Patricia (Hynes) McGloine of Virginia Beach, VA, Edward and Mary (McGloine) Hynes of Oceanside, NY, and Thomas and Deborah (Running) McGloine of Schuylerville, NY and Katherine (McGloine) Sheldhal of Granbury, TX and their families. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1pm Monday, January 10, 2021 at Notre Dame-Visitation Church, 18 Pearl St., Schuylerville, NY 12871. Friends may call prior to the service from 12-1 in Fisher Hall at the Notre Dame-Visitation Church.
