Obituary of Geraldine R. Angeles

Geraldine Angeles,82, a resident of Pyramid Pines Estates, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by her family. Born September 21, 1939 in Wilkes Barre, PA she was the daughter of the late William Swelgin and Rita Button. Geraldine was raised in Buffalo, NY by her Aunt Helen and Uncle Andrew Carbohn with cousins Patricia and the late Kathleen Carbohn. In 1958, Geraldine married her eternal love, Marine veteran Charles C. Angeles. She soon became a dedicated, loving and nurturing stay-at-home mother of Diana Angeles Scannell, Charles Angeles Jr. and the late Karen Angeles in the Buffalo and greater Syracuse areas. In 1976, Geraldine and Charles moved with their children to Saratoga Springs, NY where she continued to pursue a career in the financial mortgage and loan banking sector of Statewide Funding Corp., later becoming M&T Bank. It was in Saratoga Springs that Geraldine (known best by friends and family as ‘Geri’), found her lifetime friends Ann Tranka, Bert and Perky Braymer, and Mary Wheeler. Geraldine was a loving, outgoing and charismatic soul that enjoyed reading, shopping, her home and people. But what she loved the most in life was relaxing with her husband and dog Beauregard, hearing the laughter of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and visits with her dear friends. In addition to her parents, and daughter, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles C. Angeles on November 14, 2021. Survivors include her daughter, Diana Scannell (Faith) of Fulton, NY; her son, Charlie Angeles of Ballston Spa, NY; her sister, Helen Mary Harker; her brother, David Brown Jr.; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am Friday, April 22, 2022 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville, NY. Burial will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 10-11:30 prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
