Obituary of James Wachter

James Wachter, 78, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation. 

He was born October 1, 1944, in Englewood, New Jersey, to the late Albert and Grace (Turner) Wachter.

James served his country proudly in the United States Army during Vietnam, where he served as a mechanic on tanks.  He was a talented mechanic, co-owning T&J auto in Cambridge.  James was a kind human being; he was generous and if anyone needed help, he would help them.

Over the years, he created several close relationships working with various farmers throughout Cambridge.  He will forever be remembered as a kind man, who was proud of his service, proud of his community and proud of his trade.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother David Wachter.

Survivors include his close friend Forrest Telford, whom he considered a son, former companion, Peg Telford as well as cousins.  

Graveside services for James will be held in the Riverside Cemetery in Fort Miller.
