Obituary of Catherine-Anne Ratuszny

Catherine-Anne Ratuszny, 86, of Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 29, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Born October 11, 1923 in Franklin Square, NY, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Marie (Slater) Seeger. She graduated from Sewanahka High School in 1941 with honors. In August of 1950 she married Myron Ratuszny. In the late 1940’s, Kay was selected as an advertising figure for the NY Subway System, being named as Miss Subway New York. At the time, she was an executive secretary in New York City and was thrilled by the honor. She lived in Long Island until 2000, where she loved to spend time at the beach. Kay was a good friend and noted for her sense of humor which was always in action, making people feel happy and comfortable. She was a loving, attentive mother, grandmother, sister and friend and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an accomplished knitter and craftsperson. And was an avid golfer, participating in a number of women’s leagues, and enjoyed bowling and bingo. Kay will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched. In addition to her parents, Kay was predeceased by her brother Jackie, who died in service to our country during WWII, and her sister Alice Fream. Surviving are two daughters; Michelle Wright and her husband Stephen of Greenwich and Adrienne Ratuszny of Bay Shore, NY; One son, Russell J. Ratuszny and his wife Sandi Binder of Hicksville, NY; Two grandchildren, Leslie Wright and his wife Kiersten of Whitehall and Alexandra Wright of Greenwich; One sister, Betty Dannenfelser of Arizona. A Memorial service will be held at Prestwick Chase, Saratoga Springs, where Kay had been living and has many friends, on Sunday May 16, 2010 at 1PM. Memorials in her name may be made to Easton-Greenwich Rescue Squad, Box 84, Greenwich, NY 12834 or Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
