Obituary of Helen B. Flynn
Helen B. Flynn, 89, a resident of Washington St.,Greenwich, died early Friday, May 28, 2010 at Saratoga Hospital. Born January 13, 1921 in Greenwich, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Cunningham Blanchfield. Helen was a graduate of Greenwich Central School Class of 1940. She had been employed by Golden Fleece Paper Mill in Greenwich. She was a dispatcher for the Greenwich Fire Department for several years, and had been Election Inspector for both the Town of Greenwich and Village of Greenwich. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Flynn and her brother, John Blanchfield who was killed in the Normandy Invasion. Survivors include her children, Leo F.(Mary Beth) Flynn and Lisa (Bill) Gillis, of Greenwich; 4 grandchildren, Jake (Tabitha), Lindsey, Christopher, and Jason; 1 brother, Francis Blanchfield of Greenwich; 1 sister, Jean Darfler of Saratoga Springs; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at St. Josephâs Church in Greenwich, with Rev. Martin Fisher, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Josephâs Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday at the church from 9:30am until the mass at 10am. Memorials can be made to St. Josephâs Church Building Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Flynn Bros. Inc.
