Obituary of Leneta E. Gamache

Leneta E. Gamache passed away peacefully on Feb. 24, 2017 at Wesley Health Care Facility. The daughter of the late Dunbar and Evelyn Rice Lauder, she was born in Hudson Falls on Nov. 21, 1928 and grew up in the Bald Mt. area of Greenwich. She graduated from Greenwich High School in 1946. She and Joseph Gamache were united in marriage on July7,1946 and moved to Schuylerville, where she lived for 60 years. She was a lifelong member of the Ft. Miller Reformed Church and was very active in church functions throughout her life. When her boys were young she was very active in the scouting program, serving as Den Mother for Cub Pack 13 for 13 years. She had also been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 278 since 1947. She worked at Oneida Markets in Schuylerville until it closed and then worked as a nurse's aide at Mary McClellan Hospital until her retirement. Her family was very important to her and she loved large family gatherings and took numerous pictures of every occasion. She had a deep love for her country and took great pride in honoring the flag. To her the most beautiful place in the world was the Maine seacoast and years of vacations were spent there with family and friends. Baking was a hobby she thoroughly enjoyed and especially so at Christmastime. She would bake thousands of cookies of all kinds to be given as gifts to family and friends throughout Schuylerville. Being on the cookie list was a big deal. Pre-deceased besides her parents, include her husband Joseph, married for 52 years, two brothers, Albert and Lawrence Lauder, two special cousins, Leota Magrow and Robert Hurd. Survivors include 3 sons, Lawrence(Diane) Gamache and Kim(Elaine) Gamache both of Saratoga Springs, and Lee(Cindy) Gamache of Cocoa,FL. Grandchildren Linda(Randy) Bussing of Argyle, Elizabeth(Tom) Efthimiou of Long Island, Evelyn(Richard) Halka of Dowingtown,PA, Michael(Wendy) Gamache of Ft. Edward, April(Jerry) Grolley of Middle Falls, Laura(Shawn) Cassidy of Titusville, FL, Melissa(Justin Hafner) Gamache of Saratoga Springs, Clint(Cheryl) Gamache of Orlando,FL, Trista(James) Clark of Cocoa, FL, and 14 great grandchildren. Services will be held at the Ft. Miller Reformed Church on Saturday March 4 at 11am. Burial will be in the spring at Notre Dame Cemetery in Schuylerville. Friends may call on Friday March 3 from 4-7pm at Flynn Brothers Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville,NY 12871. The family requests that any donations made to Leneta's memory be given to the Ft. Miller Reformed Church Building Fund, 1239 Ft. Miller Rd., Ft. Edward,NY 12831
