Obituary of Floyd W. Nolan

Floyd W. Nolan, 65, a resident of Greenwich passed away suddenly Friday, May 12, 2017 at Albany Medical Center.  He was born March 19, 1952 in Cambridge, NY.

Floyd served in the United States Army from 1971-1973, he was a hard worker all his life who took great pride in supporting his family.  He owned his own restaurant in Greenwich “The Hot Dog Express” for many years, also he owned Bridge St. Auto in the early 2000’s, and was manager at the Stevens and Thompson Paper Mill Waste Treatment Center for over 25 years.  After he retired he worked seasonal at The Betterbee.   In his free time Floyd enjoyed playing golf, going to the casino, working on lawn mowers, sports, camping and fishing.  He had an amazing sense of humor and loved making people around him laugh.  His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, he spent as much time with them as he could.  Floyd was loved by all and was always there for his family and friends no matter what.

He was predeceased by his mother Evelyn Nolan, also by his half-brothers Sydney, Steve and Ed O’Donnell; aunt Hazel Karp, whom he spent most of his childhood years with; aunt Rose McCann; uncles Gary Nolan Sr., Sonny Nolan, Samuel Nolan, and Francis Nolan.

Survivors include his loving children, Wendy, Taralyn and Dana Nolan all of Greenwich; grandchildren Kali, Paige, Arianna, Chase, Logan, Jaidan and Travis; aunts Mary Skellie and Catherine Loveland; uncles Nick Karp and George Nolan; siblings Rose, Patricia, John, Gary, Rena and Brenda; mother of his children Susan Nolan; lifelong best friends Dana Clark, Billy Smith and David Faile; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St, Greenwich, NY, 12834 with the Rev. Martin Fisher officiating.  Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duel Rd, Schuylerville, NY, 12871.

A celebration of Floyd’s life will be held at the American Legion Post 515, 19 Abeel Ave, Greenwich, NY, 12834 immediately following the graveside services.

Family and friends may call from 11-1pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Donations in Floyd’s name may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Legion Post 515.
