Mary Batty

Obituary of Mary Helen Batty

Mary Helen. Batty, 78 a well-loved mother and grandmother and lifelong resident of Greenwich passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 25, 2017 at her home.

She was born March 31, 1939 in Cambridge, NY, to the late Helen and Raymond Quinn.

Mary was well loved by all her family and friends, she had a kind heart and was always thoughtful to everyone around her.  She loved spending time with her family.  Mary’s grandchildren were so dear to her heart, they loved spending time with their beloved grandmother, sharing their accomplishments and the joys in their lives with her.  She will surely be watching over them from heaven now.

Mary enjoyed taking great care of her home, she often made her families favorite recipes for them.  Her spaghetti and meatballs and amazing potato salad were among their favorites.  Enjoying rides through the countryside, shopping, dining out, and collecting treasures along the way, were among her favorite things to do with her family.  She was an avid reader and so loved a good biography, assorted magazines, and of course her daily newspaper!  Her friends and family will miss her smile, her laugh, her twinkling eyes and most of all her presence and love.

We loved you every day Mary, and now we will miss you every day.  “Those we love will never truly leave us and goodbyes are not forever, until we meet again”

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brothers Patrick and Raymond Quinn and sisters Linda Ely and Shirley Weir.

Survivors include her loving children, Daniel Batty of Easton, Dennis (Melaney Sandbrook) Batty of Greenwich, Russell (Kim) Batty of Greenwich; daughter Vicky (Leo Lynch) Niles; grandchildren Jocelyn Batty, Ryan and Chad Niles, Mikayla and Seth Batty, Kelsey, Caleb, Connor Lawlor; sisters Catherine Moore, Elizabeth Durham and Gloria Meyers; several nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours.

Graveside services will be held at 11am Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, County Rte 52, Greenwich, with the Rev. Martin Fisher officiating.
