Obituary of Grace Neely

Grace Shuttleworth Neely, 102, a resident of Washington Center in Argyle and former lifelong resident of Milford, CT, passed away peacefully Friday, October 27, 2017 after a life well lived.

 

She was born April 14, 1915 in Lake Trade, Pennsylvania to the late William and Flora Ryder Shuttleworth.

 

Grace loved to cook, she served as a spectacular waitress at the Devon Diner for over 20 years.  She had such wonderful memories and stories of her “regulars”, they became part of her extended family and in stories shared around the Sunday dinner table.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Grace always put her family before herself and she will always be remembered for her kindness, love to others, her spectacular meals, pies and apricot cookies.  She “Graced” the world.

 

In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband Donald L. Neely; son Bill Neely and his wife Carol; daughter-in-law Linda Neely; brother Paul Shuttleworth; sisters Mabel Belmont and Viola Shuttleworth Neely

 

Survivors include her son David (Edie) Neely of Greenwich; sister Geraldine Brown of Texas; grandchildren; Corrine (Terry) Neely Cassavaugh, Colleen (Gary) Rousseau, Bill (Chelsea) Neely, Tricia Neely, Mary (Bob) Neely Bole, Christopher Abbatello and Jeffrey Abbatello; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.

 

A celebration of Grace’s life will be held at 3pm Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St, Greenwich, NY, 12834 with the Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating.

 

Family and friends may call from 1-3 prior to the service at the funeral home.
