Obituary of Emily Margaret Johnson

Emily Margaret “Peg” Johnson, 97, a resident of Greenwich since 1946, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Saratoga Hospital.

She was born November 8, 1920 in Auckland, New Zealand to the late Davidson and Emily Cloutworthy Stoupe.

Emily met the love of her life Willis P. Johnson in Auckland New Zealand, while he was on R and R from the Army Air Corps.  They were together for 7 days and they wrote eachother for 3 years while he was stationed in the South Pacific. She moved to the United States in July 1946 and married him in August, they were together 62 years until his passing in 2012.  Emily “Peg” was very active in the Centenary United Methodist Church in Greenwich and was active in their womens groups, she was an avid knitter and enjoyed her trips to the ocean.  Her family meant the world to her and she was loved by all.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Willis P. Johnson; brothers Ernie, Ray and John Stoupe; sister Hazel Edwards

Surviving are her beloved children Janice (David), Yvonne, Glenda and Barry (Janie); grandchildren Stacey, Amy, Kevin, Aaron, Sam and Zach; great grandchildren Rebecca, Emily, Olivia, Megan and Tessa.

At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours.  Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
