Obituary of Randi J. Lamb

Randi John Lamb, 50, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Quaker Springs on Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Born December 17, 1959 at Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, NY he was the son of George H. and Joan (Conkey) Lamb of Greenwich. Just before graduating from Greenwich Central School in 1978, Randi moved in with his sister, Joni Henderson and her husband Alan. During that time, he helped out on the Henderson Family Dairy Farm in Easton, where he developed his lifelong love for country life, simple pleasures, nature’s beauty and open spaces. Randi later worked at Greenwich K-Mart as manager of the toy department, then was employed for 14 years at Garden Way in Troy, NY. Most recently he had worked at Xerox Corporation in Albany as Print Shop Manager, where he exceeded company expectations and was named to the “Wall of Fame”. Golf was a passion of Randi’s and he was darn good at it. He was often on the links at the crack of dawn on opening day of the season, and didn’t leave until sunset on the final closing day, playing as often and long as he could in-between. He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching all sports, especially Dolphin’s football games (though it was an understatement to say he didn’t always enjoy the outcomes). Randi could often be found riding around in his Jeep Wrangler with his baseball cap on backwards; taking long walks in Saratoga National Park with his cherished dog, Cleo; or chatting and texting on his cell phone. He truly appreciated a good home cooked meal, a cold beer on a hot day, and a hot coffee on a cold day; laughing, kidding around with and “Zinging” friends and family members; and quiet, reflective moments sitting in his swing in his front yard. Randi is and always will be missed and remembered as forever young by those who loved him. He was predeceased by his father George and step-mother, Edna (Wallace Brophy) Lamb. Survivors include his 2 children, Geremy J. Lamb of Coral Springs, FL and Shannon A. Lamb of Boynton Beach, FL; his former wife, Tonya Goggin also of Florida; he was the loving son of Terry and Joan (Conkey) Fleming of Greenwich; little brother to Joni (Alan “Mister”) Henderson of Easton and Luewona (Paul) Scalard of New Windsor, NY; step-brother to Diane (Joe) DiSarno of Saratoga, Peter (Debbie) Brophy, Sue Nolan, and Tim (Stacey) Brophy, all of Greenwich; Godparents, John CoFrancisco of Middle Falls and Nancy Spiezio of Greenwich; special friend Stephanie Nickloff and family; devoted friends, John Henley of Greenwich, Royce and Mary Jo Ball of Quaker Springs; his former in-laws, Rick and Shirley Goggin, and his faithful dog, Cleo; and a large extended family whom he loved and who loved him dearly. Friends and family may call on Monday, November 29, 2010 from 4:30 – 6:00pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich. A memorial service will follow at 6:00pm at the funeral home, with Paul Petrowski, officiating. Memorials can be made in Randi’s memory to the Adirondack Save-a-Stray in Corinth, NY or to the American Cancer Society’s Greenwich “Relay for Life”. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to General Schuyler Emergency Squad for their quick, professional response and to Saratoga Hospital and staff members, Dr. Brooks and ER nurses Mary and Kathleen for their care, kindness and compassion at the time of our loss.
