Obituary of Terrance Anthony Preece

Terrance Anthony (“Terry”) Preece passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024, just weeks after celebrating his 90th birthday.

Terry is survived by his wife of 69 years, Patricia (Sheehan) Preece; three of their four children: Garry (Jean) Preece of Ballston Spa, Beverly (Garrett) Rockwell of Burnt Hills and Glen (Sherry) Preece of Queensbury; ten grandchildren: Jessica Preece, Justin (Katie) Preece, Connor (Jackie) Preece, Thomas Preece, Jennifer (Kason) O’Neil, Samantha (Rick) Lagace, Garrett (Danielle) Rockwell, Jessica Helffrich, Nathan (Grace) Alden and Jaycen Alden; 16 great grandchildren; his sister, Jennifer Samuelson of England; three nieces and a nephew.  He is predeceased by his parents and infant son, John.

Terry was born on February 20, 1934, to William and Jenny (Worrall) Preece in Kidderminster, England.

He grew up in England and lived with his grandmother during World War II, while his father was serving in the British Navy and his mother worked in a factory.  After graduation, Terry enlisted in the British Army.  While serving, he was selected to be a member of the Honor Guard for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth.  Terry met Pat while he was in the army, completed his service in 1954, became an electrician and married Pat in 1955.

Terry and Pat immigrated to Canada in 1957 where he worked on the Ontario Power Project in Niagara Falls.  They moved to Buffalo in 1962, where he worked for Buffalo Tool and Dye for nine years.  They then moved to Ballston Spa, where they raised their children and Terry worked at Adirondack Beverage for 25 years, until he retired in 1996.  Terry and Pat then built their dream home in Cambridge, NY, where they lived surrounded by wildlife and the beautiful countryside.

Terry enjoyed bowling, deep sea fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors or tackling projects in his workshop.  He was a proud American citizen, a founding member of Greenwich Community Outreach and a dedicated member of his local and church communities.
