As a nephew, and Donnies oldest son, my cousin Kevin and I would hang out at Aunt Edies a lot. We played pool at the bar and at the house. We fished the creek in Uncle Chucks boats, and we trapped the creek and down back which was beyond the sand pit near the house. I butchered and processed pigs there as well. I enjoyed the back porch overlook to the bar with Aunt Edie and her friends which would sometimes be jockies from the race track. An ecclectic mix of people in the summer. So many good memories and experiences that I will always cherish as long as I live. As Aunt Edies health declined, so did the possibilities of visiting but word would get around as to her health. She will be missed but I thank her for giving me these forever memories and was proud and honored to know her so well and share in her life. She will be missed but not forgotten along with all the other members of the Hayes family that have passed before her. Sincerly submitted by David Hayes

Ashley,
I'm saddened to hear of your Mom's passing. She was a wonderful lady whom I will always remember as a cornerstone of a great generation. We had many good times at the "old place" with she & your Dad. Bless you at this tough time.

Aunt Edie had a strong passion to be the best that she could be. She was an avid gardener, savvy business lady, and loved her jewelry. She was a great conversational partner and people enjoyed her company because she was so engaging.
She would go to the stores on Thanksgiving and buy herself a new pretty piece of jewelry. It was always fun to see what pretty piece she was able to scoop up! These are just a few of the many memories that I have of her.
I will miss her.

Ashley, Aunt Marion, and Family- I am so very, very sorry. Aunt Edie was a great lady. I spent a lot of time playing cards at her table, drinking her coffee and getting urged to eat more dinner. I always admired her spunk and her spirit and thought she set a tremendous example. She was no stranger to hard work and didn't have much respect (rightfully so) for anybody who slacked. She was always kind and fair to me, even after Kevin and I divorced, and let me stay overnight once years later when I was close by. Her door was always open and she had a joy of life. I loved her very much. Love, Nancy
