Obituary of Marilyn R. Barber

Marilyn "Mike" Marshall Thompson Barber, 89, of Northumberland, passed away, January 16, 2016 at Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs. Born January 28, 1926 in Albany, NY she was the daughter of Robert and Amelia Thebodo Marshall, and the beloved daughter of foster parents, Percy W. and Julia E. Spires Barber of Maple Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY. She was employed for 32 years in the H.B. Settle, C.H. Hutchins and G.S. Bolster Photography Shop at 1 Phila St. in Saratoga Springs, retiring in 1979. She was an avid bowler and was a member of the Firecracker Bowling League, enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and loved doing crafts. She was predeceased by her husband Alton C. Barber, her parents, and a son, Howard E. Thompson Jr. Survivors include several cousins, nieces, nephews, and a half-sister; a stepdaughter, Jeannette Crowell and her husband Doug and their children of Cherry Creek, NY; 2 stepsons, Stanley Barber and his wife Donna and children of Schuylerville and Richard Barber and his daughter of Ukiah, CA; several great grandchildren; several step nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, January 18, 2016 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville with Pastor Al Johnson, officiating. Spring burial will be in the Gurn Springs Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 10-11am at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorials can be made in her memory to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
