Obituary of William M. Harris

William (Bill) M. Harris, 93, a longtime resident of Greenwich, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital. Born December 21, 1924 in Thompson, NY he was the son of the late John L. and Mary Lou Harris. Mr. Harris graduated from Schuylerville High School in 1943 and was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He served in several invasions in the Pacific including the invasion of Saipan .He met the love of his life Loy in 1952 and married her on August 7, 1954. Bill worked at Golden Fleece in Greenwich and went on to retire from Victory Specialty in Victory Mills in 1987. Bill was a well-known Electrician in the area for many years helping several friends and neighbors with kindness and his wealth of knowledge. In addition to his parents, his brother, John L Harris, predeceased him. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Loy Meyer Harris of Glens Falls; daughter, Holly Harris of Greenwich; son, Matthew Harris of Glens Falls; 3 grandchildren, Sean Harrington, Sierra Harrington, and Sabrina Harris; his sister, Mary Alice Renshaw of Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews, Steve (Kai) Harris, Richard (Karen) Harris, Jerrine (Rick) Meyer, Joy (Frank) Smith, Jill Meyer, Diane Renshaw and Dave Renshaw, and family friend Florence Sherman who was like another daughter to Bill A special thank you would like to be extended to the staff of Glens Falls Hospital, especially Lynn Keile PA and nurse Amanda who took exceptional care of Bill during his final days. Friends and Family are invited to a celebration of Bill's life on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the American Legion, Clancy St., Schuylerville, from 1-4pm. A private Spring burial will be held at the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Schuylerville. Arrangements are under the direction of Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville, NY 12871.
