Obituary of Blanche M. Lewis

Blanche Lewis, of Lewis Rd., Stillwater, went into the arms of the Lord on December 23, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer with her family and loved ones by her side. Born January 2, 1942 in Cambridge, NY she was the daughter of the late Martin and Blanche Currier McCormick Sr. Blanche attended Greenwich Central School. She chose a nursing career and became a C.N.A. (certified nursing assistant). She practiced her profession for eleven years at Saratoga Hospital’s adult care unit. She spent another twenty years at the Eddy Adult Home in Cohoes, NY before retiring to enjoy her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Catherine McCormick Saunders and a brother, John McCormick. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Fred Lewis; their 4 sons, Fred Lewis Jr., Martin Lewis, Joseph Lewis and Frank Lewis, all of Stillwater; 1 sister, Mary Barrett and her daughter, Heather Barrett of Albany; 4 brothers, Martin (Helen) McCormick Jr. of Scotia and their 3 children, Richard McCormick of Greenwich, Joseph (Joan Trip) McCormick of Easton, and James (Judy Nulty) McCormick of Greenwich. Blanche enjoyed her friends, but most of all, she took great joy in having her family with her at all times. Her greatest treasures, while she was with us, were her three grandsons, Jeff, Frank, and Dan. They filled her heart with joy and brought a twinkle to her eyes. A private mass of resurrection will be conducted at the convenience of the family at St. Joseph’s Church in Greenwich. Spring burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Greenwich. There will be no calling hours. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Community Hospice of Saratoga. The family wishes to thank Hospice for all the kindness and unselfish acts they performed to help Blanche and her family in their time of need.
