Obituary of Olive B. Wilbur

Olive Burns Wilbur, 93, received her angel wings on January 25, 2011 at Pleasant Valley in Argyle, NY. Born in Greenwich, NY, on February 11, 1917, she was the daughter of William and Jeanie Jackson Burns. She graduated from Greenwich High School in 1934. Olive worked for 8 years as a clerk at the First National Bank of Greenwich, prior to her marriage in 1942 to Sprague J. Wilbur. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her brother Leslie, and a great granddaughter, Caroline Kapper. She is survived by her children, Jeanie Sampson (Don), Donald Wilbur (Marge), Laurel Deyoe (John), Janice Wilbur (Cliff), Lynnette Allen (Rich), and Joanne Martin (Bill), 14 grandchildren: Lauren Hood, Jill Sampson, Steve Wilbur, Kerri Kapper, Gregg Wilbur, Rebecca DeSorbe, Stacey Dooley, Julie Rowland, Matt Wilbur, Amy McFarren, Daniel Allen, Mike Allen, Brian Martin, Brad Martin, and 22 great grandchildren. Olive truly loved her family and home. She was a faithful member of the United Church of Greenwich and the Ida Whiteside Guild. She enjoyed reading, watching the birds and listening to music. Her family misses the afternoons spent around her kitchen table talking and eating her delicious baked goodies, especially her apple pie and Irish oatmeal cookies. She was a very sweet lady with a wonderful sense of humor. At her request there will be no calling hours. A service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, January 29 at the United Church of Greenwich with a reception immediately following. Arrangements are under the direction of Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home of Greenwich. Burial will be in the spring at the Greenwich Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the United Church of Greenwich or Pleasant Valley Activities Fund.
