Obituary of Lena Amideo

Lena M. Amideo passed away May 25, 2011 at her home in Ocala, Fla. She was born June 17, 1921 in Schuylerville, New York, the daughter of Dominick and Antoneatta Iarossi. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Concettina, and brothers Patrick and Dominick Jr. After working as a secretary in Albany, New York, Lee met and married Alfred R. Amideo of New York City in 1955. His job as a design engineer for Lockheed took them to Sunnyvale, California in 1961 where she also worked for the Veteran’s Administration. Upon their retirement, they moved to Ocala in 1989. Lee was an avid reader, a lover of art and fine music, especially opera, and also enjoyed hiking California’s state and national parks. Lee and Fred also loved travelling in Europe and around the country, particularly to visit family and to take part in reunions. She lost her beloved “Freddie” in 2005, but is survived by sister-in-law Helen (Ben) Cromwell of Ocala, brothers-in-law Edmund (Mireya) Amideo of Miami Beach, and William Amideo of Atlanta, 19 nieces and nephews, many grand nieces and nephews, and good friends and neighbors, Marion and Walt Jones of Ocala. A graveside service will be held at 1pm Monday, October 24, 2011 in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Schuylerville, with Rev. Martin Fisher officiating.
