Obituary of Rose J. Baker

Rose J. Baker, 91, a former resident of route 40, Town of Easton, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Saratoga Hospital Nursing Home where she had made her residence since 2006. Born January 22, 1920 in Passaic, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Albert Taras and Sophie Adamcyzck Taras. Rose was employed for many years at Skiff’s Market in Greenwich and was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Greenwich. Her enjoyments in life were her family, reading and arranging flowers for others. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Mead Baker who died in 2000, and a brother, Walter Taras, Sr. who died in 1999. Survivors include her children, Sandra (Jack) Brown of Guilderland, Alan (Maureen) Baker of Gansevoort, and Joanne (Mike) Brownell of Buskirk; grandchildren, Brian Brown, Matt (JoAnn) Baker, Megan Hoffis, Michael (Samantha Wise) Baker, Shelly (Neal) Hungerford, and Ben (Crystal) Brownell; great grandchildren, Cameron Baker and Brock Brownell; also by special nieces and nephews of the Taras family. Services will be conducted at 1pm Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with the Rev. Martin Fisher officiating. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery entrance at 12:45pm. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials in her name be made to the Easton Greenwich Rescue Squad, PO Box 84, Greenwich, NY 12834.
