Obituary of Frances Ackner

Frances Ackner, 96, a former resident of Greenwich, NY died Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Prospect Nursing Home in Bennington, VT where she had resided for the past few years. Born May 17, 1915 in Mechanicville, NY she was the daughter of the late Warren and Carrie Luke Whitcomb. Mrs. Ackner was a graduate of Cambridge High School. She was a member of the Greenwich O.E.S., D.A.R., and Centenary United Methodist Church. She was a self employed hairdresser for many years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Raymond J. Ackner who died in 2003; her brother, Darwin Whitcomb; and sister, Edna Whitcomb. Survivors include her daughter, Carol (David) Williams of Greenwich; 2 grandchildren, Kirsten (William) Zecher and Jason (Jolene) Williams; 3 great grandchildren, Joshua and Jeremy Zecher and Kourtney Williams. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. There are no calling hours.
