Obituary of John J. Burgess

John J. Burgess, 63, a lifelong resident of Greenwich, passed away Saturday January 28, 2012 following a long illness. Born March 21, 1948 he was the son of the late John and Jeanne (Ericson) Burgess. John was a member of the Greenwich Fire Department, the Greenwich Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus #1239 of Greenwich. He was also active in the Greenwich Little League, the Greenwich Democratic Committee and was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church. Surviving is his wife Sharron (Shannon) Burgess, two daughters; Shari (Thom) Marci and Colleen (Roger) Burgess, three sons; Nick (Brenda) Marci, John (Michelle) Marci and Patrick Burgess. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; Alexandria, Mackenzie, Cole, Lauren, Tyler, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Allyson and Lindsey. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10am Friday February 3, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Church, Greenwich, the Rev. Martin Fisher officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. The family will receive visitors at the family home, 61 Corliss Ave. Greenwich after 3pm on Friday.
