Obituary of Janet A. Cummings
Janet A. Cummings, 76, a resident of Cambridge, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Nursing and Rehab Center of Hoosick Falls. Born August 27, 1935 in Albany, NY she was the daughter of the late Gifford and Margaret Benson McKernon and attended Mildred Elly School in Albany. Mrs. Cummings was a communicant of St. Patrickâs Church in Cambridge where she was a member of the church council and headed the churchâs strawberry festival for many years. She was part owner of the IGA with her husband, worked as a playground aid and in the nursing office at Mary McClellan Hospital for many years, but the job she most took pride in was being a full time housewife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed playing bridge and watching her sons playing sports in school. Survivors include her husband Donald A. Cummings of Cambridge; 3 sons, Richard Cummings of Lake Placid, James (Sandy) Cummings of Doylestown, PA, and Dr. John (Stacy) Cummings of Glen Mills, PA; 6 grandchildren, Erin, Jessica, Katie, Elise, Matthew, and Devin Cummings. A funeral mass will be held 10 am Thursday, June21, 2012, at St. Patrickâs Church in Cambridge with Rev. James Walsh officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrickâs Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday (today) at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich, NY. Memorials can be made in her memory to the Nursing and Rehab Center of Hoosick Falls or the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad.
