Obituary of Joan D. Thompson

Joan D Thompson, 71, of Cynthia Meadows Sr. apartments passed away suddenly at her home Friday, June 29, 2012, may she rest in peace. Born July 8th 1941, she enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She attended the URI as an undergraduate where she met and married Richard Disque. After moving to upstate NY to the small rural hamlet of Battenville, her most fond memories were of farm living. She loved her horses and gardening. Joan was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed sharing her culinary enthusiasm with those she touched. Most of her life she was a busy homemaker, but she also had other jobs as a bus driver, and dietitian. Later in life she became a certified paralegal. Her other interests and talents included the arts and crafts where she was a member of the Battenkill Art League and was part owner in a craft store in South Glens Falls. Joan took great pride in her artwork and enjoyed oil painting as her main hobby. She will be remembered and missed by her loved ones. Joan is predeceased by her parents George and Helen Kalden. Joan is survived by her daughter Jennifer J Baehm and son David Richard Disque, two grandchildren Jeffrey Disque and Michael Disque, her good friend Carol Fung and beloved cat Blacky. Memorial services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Flynn Bros., Inc.
