Obituary of Matthew K. Furlani

Matthew K. Furlani, 28, a resident of Church St., died tragically Sunday, July 1, 2012 at his home. Born February 15, 1984 in Rensselaer, NY he was the son of Richard Furlani (Lisa Wander) of Schuylerville and Christina Harwood Downey of Rensselaer. He attended Schuylerville Central High School. Matthew was currently employed as a cook with his father at Mac’s Diner in Schuylerville and had worked with his uncle Rob Furlani at Sonny’s Restaurant in Round Lake for many years. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. His dogs were an important part of his life. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Mario Furlani and George Harwood, son Lucius Mario Furlani, and sibling Luther Wander. Survivors in addition to his parents include his paternal grandmother, Anna Mae Furlani; maternal grandmother Barbara Harwood; siblings Ashley Downey, Joshua Downey, Catherine Downey, Ariel Wander, Celia Rivera, Teddy Eichler, and Lilly Eichler as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and a nephew, and many loyal friends, including his best friend Troy Cassell of Schuylerville. A memorial service will be held at 5pm Monday, July 9, 2012 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville with Rev. Martin Fisher, officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 5-7pm following the service. Memorials can be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
