Obituary of Max E. McQuade

Max E. McQuade, 78, a resident of North Road passed away at his home Tuesday July 31, 2012 surrounded by family and friends. Born in Greenwich August 13, 1933 a son of David and Jessie (Chambers) McQuade, he was a lifelong Greenwich resident. Max graduated from Greenwich Central School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954. He worked for the New York Telephone Company for 36 ½ years. He had served as a Greenwich Village trustee, was a girls varsity basketball official, was active as a coach and manager in Greenwich Little League during the 1960’s and an avid tennis player. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers Paul and Jerry. Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Joyce (Tessier) McQuade, three sons; David (Doreen) McQuade, Douglas McQuade and Mark (Denise) McQuade, one daughter Sharon (Steve) Marchaland, one brother Philip (Janet) McQuade and one sister Margaret Cartwright, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother in law David (June) Tessier and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held from 1 to 4 pm Saturday August 11 at the Greenwich Elks Lodge, State Route 40, Greenwich. The family wishes to thank everyone for their help and compassion over the last 20 years. Memorials in his name can be made to a local community organization.
