Obituary of Anne Carroll Kent

Anne Carroll Kent, 77, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2012 at Saratoga Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 9, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Francis Joseph Carroll and Ellen (Souder) Carroll. She graduated from Lansdowne High School in 1953 and then worked for Philadelphia Electric, and Ayers Advertising Agency, both of Philadelphia. Anne went on to nursing school and graduated from Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing in 1958 as a Registered Nurse. In 1958, Anne married the late Philip S. Kent, Sr., and together they resided in Florida, Texas, California, Japan, and Georgia. In 1967, they moved to Easton to raise their family. In the ensuing years, Anne worked in real estate and as a Registered Nurse at Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge. Anne’s primary focus in her life was her children, 5 of whom are surviving. Anne was a caring and loving mother and a devoted grandmother. She adored her cats and dogs over the years, especially Eddie, her Jack Russell, who was her constant companion in later years. She enjoyed gardening and especially riding around mowing her lawn with her grandson, Charles. Anne leaves behind one brother, Francis J. Carroll, Jr. (Joan), and one sister, Agnes Livingston (Richard), and numerous nieces and nephews, her most loved being Eileen Faist. Anne leaves behind 5 children: Philip S. Kent, Jr., Kathryn A. Kent, E.J. Vandergrift (George R. Pfeiffer), Carol L. Kent, and Michael F. Kent (Julie); a beloved grandson to whom she was a second mother, Charles I. VanDergrift, and a loved granddaughter, Lexi Anne Kent. There will be no calling hours as per her wishes. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Greenwich. Anne requested any memorial donations in her name be made to Saratoga Central Catholic High School, 247 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY.
