Obituary of Gloria E. DeLuca

Gloria DeLuca, of 5 Church St.. ,died peacefully at her home on Friday, November 2, 2012 with her loving family by her bedside. Gloria was born in Glens Falls on December 31, 1929, the daughter of Ada Benway and Harold Ballard. She lived in Schuylerville for many years after marrying her husband Harry. Together they ran DeGloria’s restaurant and a taxi business. Gloria also had a beauty shop in her home, then went to work at Argyle Catheter, the Wesley Nursing home and did private in home care into her 70’s. Gloria was also an incredible cook, made beautiful wedding cakes and loved to crochet. She is well known for her Friday night pizzas at her home for many years. Gloria loved celebrating Halloween with her family and welcoming trick or treaters to her home. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Harry DeLuca and her great granddaughter, Lyla; brothers, Coleman Eddy, Allen Eddy and Llewellyn Ballard; and one sister Tonya Ryerson. Gloria’s family was the center of her life. She is survived by her son Ronald Plude of Plano, Texas, Liza (Ray) Fairley of Salem, John (Sharon) DeLuca of Schuylerville, Linda (Keith) Isles of Schoharie, Sue DeLuca of Glens Falls, Terry (Donna) DeLuca of Thomson, and Harry “Will” (Patricia) DeLuca of Greenwich; 2 sisters, Mary Gumond and Theresa Marshall of Hudson Falls; 1 brother, Clayton Marshall; her grandchildren John, Camey, John, Shawn, Jami, Brandon, Kelly, Lauren, Nicci, Jeremy, Morgan and Tony, and great grandchildren Amber, Toni, John, Scott, Codey, Tyler, Ashley, Isabella, Mercades, Laniya, Dinaea, Breanna, Rylee, Noah, and one great great grandchild, Ben; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to our friends from Fort Hudson, especially, Marsha, Jenn W., Jennifer B. and Michelle for the exceptional care they provided to our mom. A memorial Mass will be held at 10am Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Notre Dame-Visitation Church, Pearl St., Schuylerville with Rev. Martin Fisher, officiating. The family would like to suggest memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205 or the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211.
