Obituary of George R. Dubrey

Following very closely to the loss of his beloved wife, Doris, we are sad to announce the passing of George Dubrey. George, 72, succumbed to Cancer on December 12th, 2012, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. George was born George Roland Dubrey on June 13, 1940 in Troy, NY to the late Adelaide (Trahan) and Norman William Dubrey. He was one of 5 children, and is survived by his brother, Robert (Marilyn) Dubrey and four sisters, Dorothy Murray, Cheryl (Rudy) Palyswiat, Patricia Dietrich, and Norma (Douglas) West as well as several nieces and nephews. George spent 1958 to 1961 serving with the U.S. Navy. He then married his loving wife in 1964, Doris Wilday French, of Troy, NY, and was blessed with 3 children; Roland (Kristina) Dubrey of Saratoga, Dawn Medick(Bill Beasley) of Schuylerville and Michele (James) Guy of South Glens Falls. George enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, Kaitlyn Austin-Cooper, Brittany and Tyler Cooper, Joseph Guy, Ethan and Sydney Dubrey and Jessica Beasley as well as his new great granddaughter, Adeleigh Pereira. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law Thomas Murray. George had spent many years working for Dubrey's Express Trucking Co. of Cohoes before he and his family moved to Saratoga where they became proud owners of Fish Creek Marina on Fish Creek, Stafford Bridge Road. They were there from 1982 until 2000 where he founded F.I.S.H. USA with the help of his family, and they hosted many fishing tournaments and events over the years. After selling 'The Marina', he and Doris lived quietly in their home in Saratoga and enjoyed visits from their children. His sense of humor and friendly, helpful attitude followed him later in life during his stay at Wesley Health Care Center. The family would like to thank Wesley Health Care Center for his brief stay and for being such good caregivers, as well as Saratoga Hospital and Community Hospice of Saratoga for his care during those final days. A special thanks to Pastor Janet Vincent for her loving support to the family. Friends may call on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 4-6pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville. Flowers are gratefully declined in lieu of donations to the American Lung Association in memory of George R.Dubrey (www.lung.org/donate).
