Obituary of Lillian G. Bodnar

Lillian G. Bodnar, 89, a resident of Pearl St., died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Saratoga Hospital. Born December 6, 1923 in Northumberland, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Gertie Holmquist Johanson. She was a member of the Old Saratoga Reformed Church in Schuylerville, was a member of the Bible Study, and had been treasurer for the Women’s Guild for many years. She was a member of Old Saratoga Seniors, and was also a member and Sunshine Lady of the Adirondack Fiddlers. She and her husband, known as “Two Tones” entertained at several nursing homes and local parties. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her children, Laura Lee Bodnar, Thomas Bodnar, Sally Murphy and James Bodnar; her sister, Violet Nadeau; brother, Arnold Johanson; and several cousins. Survivors include her husband of 69 years, John Bodnar of Schuylerville; 6 grandchildren, Thomas Bodnar Thomas (Amy), Michelle Stine, Jay Bodnar (Tricia),Jason Koval (Robin), Michael Thomas (Karen) and Kristin Brady (Kyle); 11 great grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Shirley Bodnar and Phyllis Thomas; son-in-law Francis Murphy; cousin, Glen Holmquist; several nieces and nephews, and Maritza LaCruz-Llanos who was their foreign exchange student. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Monday, December 31, 2012 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave.. Schuylerville with Rev. Joyce deVelder, officiating. Spring burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 11am – 1pm prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Memorials can be made in her memory to the Old Saratoga Reformed Church, Pearl St., Schuylerville.
