Obituary of Victoria A. Mather

Victoria "Vicky" A. Mather of Easton, NY, passed away peacefully at home Friday, February 1, 2013 surrounded by her husband Tom and her loving family after a battle with cancer. Born October 15, 1947 in Troy, NY she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Anna Flascher Gorsky. Vicky attended school in Stillwater and was a graduate of Greenwich High School. After graduating from Plattsburgh State College, she taught math at Hoosic Valley, Granville, and Brandt Lake Schools, and then retired after a long career with NYS Department of Labor. She was an avid reader and collector of books. She had a lifelong love of crafts and was skilled at sewing, card making and baking. Her love of beauty led her to create amazing flower gardens around her home where she enjoyed entertaining. She loved people in general and her family most of all. Vicky was a member of the Schuylerville Garden Club and the Easton Book Club. She was an active member of the catholic church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Stephen Gorsky. Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Thomas Mather of Easton; sisters, Jane (Jack) Foster of Schuylerville, Marian (Frank) Yakubec of Easton, and Carol (John) Bentley of Troy; brother Bill (Jill) Gorsky of Easton; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9am Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at St. Joseph's Church in Greenwich with Rev. Martin Fisher, officiating. Burial will follow in the Gerald B.H Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich.
