Obituary of Harold F. Morrison

MORRISON, Harold Francis, 79, of Poinciana, FL passed away March 25, 2013. A native of Greenwich, he was born on June 22, 1933 to the late Helen Corcoran Morrison and Harold J. Morrison. “Sonny”, as he is known to his family and friends, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Niagara University in 1955. It was during his time at university that the met Marta C. Gochez y Estaben who became the love of his life. They married in 1957 and had four children. Mr. Morrison served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957 at one point stationed in Germany in the capacity of Military Intelligence Specialist. Upon his discharge he was married then joined S. C. Johnson & Son which began his 40-year plus business career at that company. Shortly following his retirement they relocated to an active adult community in Central Florida where he enjoyed playing golf with his buddies that dubbed themselves The Snowmen of Solivita as well as exploring new restaurants with the group of friends called The Hooligans. Hal was a faithful congregant of Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather as well as great grandfather. A sharp mind, quick wit and winning smile were his hallmarks. He was preceded in death by two sons Gary and Harold Morrison; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian (Richard) Coombs and Alyce (Donald) Nash; and great niece Eliza LeRose. Survivors include his wife Marta; children, Ronald (Therese)Morrison and Jo-Ann Morrison; grandchildren Melinda (Stephen) Wilson and John Morrison; great granddaughter Sienna Wilson; 5 nieces and 3 nephews. There will be a visitation at Flynn Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich, NY on Monday April 1, 2013 from 5pm to 7pm with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church on Tuesday April 2, 2013 beginning at 10:00am followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery Greenwich, NY. Memorials may be made in the form of donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
