Obituary of Margaret Silber

Margaret (Hollinger) Silber passed away at St. Peter’s Nursing Home after prolonged illnesses. Margaret, wife of Alex Silber of 64 years, was born October 24, 1931 in Micheldorf Austria to Franz and Maria Hollinger. Austria is where Margaret grew up and it forever held a special place in her heart and life. She was a devoted wife and mother to her surviving children, Renee A. Silber and her husband Bill Washburn of Albany, and David Silber and his wife Tracy of Raleigh, NC. She is survived by three grandsons who were the joy of her life, Eli, Christopher and Michael. Margaret is also survived by a sister Erna Turner (Fred) of Cape Cod and two brothers, Franz Hollinger (Gisele) of Glenmont, and Erich Hollinger, deceased, (Elisabeth) of Admont Austria. She leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, and extended family. Margaret immigrated to the US from Austria in 1951 with her husband and daughter and lived in New Jersey until 2004. She enjoyed the Jersey Shore, her garden, and many memorable times with family. She retired from the New Jersey Gas Co. and also worked as a hair stylist for many years. Margaret’s most important life’s work was her children and family. Margaret’s loving kindness will be missed by anyone who was fortunate to be in contact with her. We were all fortunate to have known her. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville, NY 12871. Burial will follow in the Bacon Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday prior to the service from 12 -1pm at the funeral home.
