Obituary of Margaret Signorella

Margaret Signorella, 88, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020 of natural causes at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, NY. Born April 27, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of Robert and Anna Signorini Lorini. She attended schools in Pittsburgh and graduated summa cum laude from South Hills High School. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Dr. Arthur Signorella, whom she married August 12, 1950. She is survived by her four children: Diane Leavesley (Story) of Parker, CO.; Andrea Patterson of Denver, CO.; Dr. Arthur Signorella of Pittsburgh, PA.; and Dr. Margaret Horn (Dave) of Greenwich, NY. She was grandmother to seven: Travis Patterson, Drew Leavesley, Dillon & Jesse Horn and Sadie, Lidia & Jake Signorella, and great-grandmother to six children: Eaden, Jordan, Jade, Jasmine, Lucy and Jude. During her husband’s peripatetic military and private practice career as an Oral Surgeon, she and her family lived in: New Kensington, PA; Sumter, SC; Goose Bay, Labrador; Homestead, FL; Dartmouth, MA; Hawthorne, NY; Dubois, PA; and Ocean Springs, MS. Her life in Ocean Springs was marred by the loss of her husband to cancer, and the loss of her house to hurricane Katrina, but enriched by her new partner, Dr. “Jim” Douglas. She lived most recently in Greenwich, NY, with her daughter. Besides being an exceptional mother and homemaker, she was a volunteer for charitable causes wherever she lived. She was a reader, and spent much of her time communicating with friends and family around the country. She was a most generous and caring lady, and will be missed.
