I am one of Raymond's first cousins. Since I was 15 years younger than him, I do not have any memory of him before he went to war. Later while visiting at his parent's house I remember this "giant" of a man in a white sailor's uniform who scooped me up and put me on his shoulders while dancing around singing little songs. For some reason I called him Humphry and he in response called me Hinkle. As time passed I outgrew his shoulders but the names Humphry and Hinkle remained through our lives. He always greeted me with a smiling " Hi Hink ". I loved him then and I still do.
My husband Jack was always proud to have Ray as a workmate at Norton Company and admired him as a close friend.

Dear Peggy and Timmy,
I am so saddened to read of your Dad's passing. The tribute in the obituary is truly amazing. Married at age 20 and still together 71 years later, God certainly blessed them and you both to have had them for so long. . Living a few houses away from you, both your parents will pillars of the community. I remember your Mom in the school cafeteria and of course your memories of Dad probably like my Dad, the community came before family dinners and holidays.
I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers .

We light a candle in memory of our lifelong family friend. In life we have people who impact us in one way or another, Ray was one of those fine people. Ray's devotion to family, church & community was that which all would aspire to resemble. We will all be less, without him ... We will all be better, because of him. Godspeed Ray !
