Obituary of Albert Gutasy Jr.

Albert J. Gutasy Jr., 63, passed away peacefully Monday, May 13, 2013 at home surrounded by his family and friends. Born June 2, 1949 in Yonkers , NY he was the son of Catherine Gutasy and the late Albert Gutasy Sr. Al was a 1967 graduate of Saunders Trades and Technical High School in Yonkers, NY. He later moved to Greenwich in 1972. He had been involved in construction all his life and was the owner of Greenwich Excavating. Al was a former chief of the Cossayuna Volunteer Fire Department, a member and past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge #2223, a son of the American Legion Post #515, and auxiliary member of the VFW Post #7291 and Rough & Ready Fire Company; all in Greenwich. He enjoyed having fun at "The River", boating, traveling and spending time with his friends. Al was very proud of the work he did on the Most Holy Trinity Convent in Yonkers, NY at the age of 16. The very same building his grandfather had worked on previously. He is predeceased by his father, Albert Gutasy Sr. Al is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dianne Booth Gutasy of Greenwich; his mother Catherine Gutasy of Greenwich; a son, Albert Gutasy III, his wife Brandi and their children Marquita, McKayla and AnnaBelle of Greenwich; a stepdaughter, Karen Talmadge of Greenwood, SC; a sister Mary Harney and her husband Ray of Mahopac, NY; several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, many special friends and his beloved dog Juna. Family and Friends may call from 4 to 7pm Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Flynn Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich, NY 12834. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30am Friday, May 17, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Greenwich with Rev. Martin Fisher officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery immediately following the mass. Those who wish to remember Al in a special way, may make memorial contributions to St. Joseph's Church Restoration Fund, 36 Bleecker St., Greenwich, NY 12834.
