Obituary of Robert W. Fluman
Robert (Bob) W. Fluman, 70, a resident of Church St., died Monday, May 13, 2013 at his home. Born November 15, 1942 in Williamsport, PA he was the son of the late Robert and Florence Calvert Fluman. Mr. Fluman grew up in Elmira, NY and attended Rochester School for the Deaf. Bob graduated from RIT College in Rochester, NY in 1972. He worked for 24 years as a machinist at ITEK in Rochester, NY and for 28 years had been a contractor at Camp Mark Seven in Old Forge, NY. In the early 70âs he was involved with the Boy Scouts in Rochester, was a Scout Master for 9 years, and had been a foster parent for handicapped kids for many years. In 1979 he was registered to play semi-pro soccer. For the past 14 years, Robert and his wife Jane have lived in Schuylerville. He was employed by Home Depot in Wilton for the past 12 years and was also a professor at SUNY Adirondack teaching American Sign Language. Robert (Bob) and his wife Jane were very involved in the American Sign Language (ASL) teaching community. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Judy Farmer. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Jane Barnhart Fluman; 3 children, Robin Fluman wife Lisa, Roberta Ann Fluman, and Rory Fluman wife Colleen; 6 grandchildren, Alison, Christina, Lindsay, Sean, Daniel and Jameson Fluman; brother, Lane Fluman; sister, Terri Watson; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at 7 pm Friday, May 17, 2013 at Notre Dame-Visitation Church, 18 Pearl St., Schuylerville, New York, 12871 with Father Ken McKenna officiating from Detroit, Michigan. A light reception to follow in the Notre Dame-Visitation community room.
