Obituary of Beatrice D. Green

Beatrice Denton Green, 96, a summer resident of Lyttle Lane in Greenwich, NY died Sunday, May 19, 2013 at her home. Born February 7, 1917 in the Town of Pawling, NY she was the daughter of the late Silas E. and Louise Penny Denton. Her father died when she was a young child. Mrs. Green attended Brewster School from first grade through high school, and attended Maryland College for Women. She married Harold H. Green in 1947 and they made their home in Goldens Bridge, NY for over 30 years. In recent years, she made her home in Daytona Beach, FL, and lived in Greenwich, NY during the summer months. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenwich, NY, a 60 year member of the Brewster Chapter of the Eastern Star and Enoch Crosby Chapter NSDAR, a member of the Connecticut Chapter of the Decendents of the Mayflower and the Palmetto Club of Daytona Beach, FL. Beatrice was predeceased by her husband Harold in 1978; her mother Louise Denton Townsend; stepfather, Alvah D. Townsend; sister, Elizabeth D. Buckstine and niece Phyllis Green Smith. Survivors include two nephews, Ernest R. Buckstine of Madison, NJ and William T. Buckstine of Pleasantville, NY; two nieces, Lynda Green Scortis of Ogonquit, ME and Marian Green Hickman of Mt. Kisco, NY; her cousins, Elinor Ritchie Odell, Jeanne Graves, and Martha Cornog of Greenwich, and Susan Miller of Galloway, NJ; and other cousins and friends to whom she was “Aunt Bea”. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Friday, May 31, 2013 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Main St., Greenwich with Rev. Chip Strickland, officiating. Burial will be at 1pm Saturday in the Milltown Rural Cemetery, Brewster, NY. Friends may call from 5-7pm on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich. Memorials can be made in her memory to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, PO Box 183, Greenwich, NY 12834 or Community United Methodist Church, 616 Harvey Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32118.
