Obituary of William C. Burns

William C. Burns, 70, a resident of Cooper St., died Monday, June 3, 2013 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Argyle after a battle with cancer. Born April 14, 1943 in Greenwich, NY he was the son of the late Leslie and Frances Baldwin Burns. Mr. Burns was a graduate of Greenwich Central School Class of 1961 and was in one of the first classes to graduate from Adirondack Community College. He worked for TD Bank in Greenwich for many years and was a member of the Greenwich Elks Lodge #2223. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time at the camp on Hedges Lake. He was an avid NY Giants football fan. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Sharon (Sherry) Burns in 2009 and a sister, Karen Patterson in 1997. Survivors include his sister, Joan (Ken) DeRagon and their family of Greenwich; sister-in-law Carla Linnett and family, brother-in-law Scott Tuttle and family, and sister-in-law Cynthia Randall and family. A funeral service will be held at 11am Friday, June 7, 2013 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich with Rev. Keith Mann, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwich Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 10-11am at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorials can be made in his memory to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital. The family would like to thank the staff at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home for their care and kindness to Bill during his stay there.
